IoT Into The Wild Contest

Firstly, our students were able to design a working prototype to monitor our Black Soldier Fly farming initiative in its early stages. We pitched our idea on Seeed’s “IoT into the wild” contest where we won the most Enthusiastic award using Seeed’s K1100 IoT/AI kit.

We also demonstrated how the use of simple electronics and programming could potentially bring change in the community by developing a smart stick using hardware from Seeed Studio. The project was aimed towards assisting people with visual impairment through vibration and sound, alerting them when they were nearing an obstacle, to diverge their direction accordingly.

Next, our students developed a smart irrigation system that can better assist local farmers in monitoring the amount of soil moisture, after which accordingly water the farms if and when required using hardware from Seeed Studio.
